Built as a working sword for the collector and practitioner, balanced for two-handed handling and finished with traditional fittings throughout.
• 【1045 Carbon Steel, Heat Tempered Edge】 The 1045 carbon steel blade is heat tempered, showing a visible wavy temper pattern along the edge. It carries a finished edge suited to dojo practice, and a bo-hi (fuller groove) runs down each side to lighten the blade and aid the cut.
• 【Openwork Guard & Genuine Rayskin Handle】 Fitted with a Kraken-motif tsuba and a fitted habaki blade collar. The wood handle is wrapped over genuine rayskin (samegawa) and cotton ito, with a menuki under the wrap for a secure, controlled two-handed grip.
• 【Full Tang Construction & Blue Saya】 The full tang is secured with bamboo mekugi pegs and fully disassembles for care. The blade rides in a blue lacquered wood saya (scabbard) tied with a cotton sageo. Approx. 28.5-inch blade, 11-inch handle, 41 inches overall. An appraisal document is included.
